Among the endless peculiarities of Vuelta a San Juan, in the UCI Pro Series category, is that it has a large number of local teams that are part of the competition. ‘Chimbas Te Quiero’ is one of them.
Having continental category, the squad of the red maillot is going to debut in Vuelta under this name. In recent times, for example, it was part of the race, but with another name (Puertas de Cuyo in 2020).
Currently, ‘Chimbas Te Quiero’ (CT) is considered by the UCI as the third best continental team in South America. Fabulous!
The team is motivated and excited to have a great race. The bar is set high as a result of the achievements that cyclists from this squad have achieved during the current season at an international level.
Emiliano Contreras, from San Juan, became the Pan-American road champion in San Juan in May 2022. And his partner Alejandro Durán, a Mendoza cyclist, won the title in the individual time trial. Another outstanding victory was that of Mauro Richeze in the Clásica Mendoza-San Juan of the local season.
Will there be more titles and victories for ‘Chimbas Te Quiero’ in the Vuelta a San Juan 2023?
