Dozens of Chilean cyclists, including men and women, were in Copiapó for the competition. Knew the summary of the weekend.
The last days of March take place and in the Latin American region national road cycling championships continue to be held.
On this occasion, the leading country was Chile. Our Chilean brothers gathered in Copiapó -Atacama Region-, between the 24th and 26th of this month, to play the 2023 edition. It had been 22 years since the city had hosted the Chilean championship.
Women and men cyclists, from various categories, participated in the competition organized by the Chilean Cycling Federation.
Below, meet each of the brand new national road champions in Chile.
Ladies: among the elite, Karla Vallejos prevailed in the online stage; while Aranza Villalón triumphed in the individual time trial (CRI). There were also Junior cyclists and in this division Maite Ibarra won the peloton and Javiera Mansilla the CRI.
Men: at the closing of the festival, Manuel Lira -who ran the Giro del Sol and the Vuelta in San Juan 2023- became Chilean champion by winning the online stage. And José Luis Rodríguez, whom we also enjoyed in the last Vuelta, was crowned the winner in the time trial. Among the Under 23s, Héctor Quintana won the time trial. We continue with the Juniors, because Vicente Cardenas won the stage in the peloton and Diego Rojas the CRI.
