We start the March window! We have quickly started the third month of the year. And during February there were several interesting races, in different cities around the world, in which cyclists who began their calendar at the Vuelta a San Juan were protagonists, where everything begins!

Latin America

National Road Championship in Colombia:

Among the elite men, our current winner Miguel Ángel ‘Superman’ López was crowned individual time trial champion. Congratulations, champ! On the other hand, and despite the fact that he has not yet visited our race in Argentina, Esteban Chaves won gold in the online stage.

National Road Championship in Ecuador:

Although we did not enjoy them in 2023, but we did in 2018 and 2019, wearing the colors of the Movistar Team, it is worth mentioning that the current Olympic champion Richard Carapaz won first place in the individual time trial. On the other hand, Jonathan Caicedo was crowned the winner in the peloton test.

National Road Championship in Uruguay:

Our Charrúa neighbors celebrated their national championships. In the elite category, in the men’s branch, Eric Fagundez won the individual time trial. The Uruguayan ran the Vuelta a San Juan 2023 with his team. In addition, Diego Leonel Rodríguez triumphed in the online race.

Rutas de América in Uruguay:

After several days of a lot of cycling, touring the entire country, Matías Presa from Club Cerro Largo was crowned the winner of the general classification.

Vuelta del Porvenir in Argentina:

The victory was for the Chilean Martín Vidaurre, but on the podium there were two cyclists who raced in San Juan. This was the case of Franklin Archibold, from Panama es Cultura y Valores, together with the Colombian César Nicolás Paredes, from the San Juan continental team SEP San Juan. In addition, Leandro Messineo -our best Argentine in VSJ 2023- finished in ninth place.

Europe

Tour of the Algarve in Portugal:

Great victory in the general for the Colombian Daniel Felipe Martínez of the INEOS Grenadiers. Second finished his teammate, the Italian Filippo Ganna. And BORA-hansgrohe’s Sergio Higuita fought back and finished in 11th place.

O Gran Camino in Spain:

Deserved victory for Dane Jonas Vingegaard, but here we had Nicolás Tivani from San Juan (78th), in his second race with the Italian Team Corratec. The Argentine was the protagonist of a break in the third stage.

Faun Drome Classic in France:

The American Quinn Simmons of the Trek-Segafredo, who was able to win the third stage in San Juan, was among the best and finished fifth overall.

Kuurne – Bruxelles – Kuurne in Belgium:

Here we highlight the Dutchman Fabio Jakobsen, because the current European road champion, a member of Soudal – Quick Step, finished in the top-ten (9th). And our dear friend Peter Sagan was 33rd on the stage.

Asia

UAE Tour in United Arab Emirates:

Great victory for world champion Remco Evenepoel to start 2023 in a great way. He was the overall winner. In addition, the Colombian Einer Rubio from the Movistar Team was 13th and our best Sub 23 finished 17th, the American Matthew Riccitello from Israel Premier Tech.
